The Faculty of Fine Arts at Hacettepe University was established by the Decree Law No. 41, dated July 20, 1982, enacted under Law No. 2809, which came into effect on March 28, 1983. It began offering education in the Painting and Sculpture Departments, as well as the Graphic, Ceramics, and Glass majors of the Applied Arts Department, in the 1983-1984 academic year.
The faculty, which graduated its first students in June 1987, also established the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design major within the Applied Arts Department, in accordance with a decision made at the Council of Higher Education meeting on July 25, 1984, and commenced education in the 1985-1986 academic year.
Furthermore, an Elective Courses Coordination Office has been established within the faculty, offering elective courses in Plastic Arts, Photography, and Cinema-TV to students from other faculties.
